Version: 1.1 · Effective: 2 November 2026
Beta rollout: this version introduces the updated selection rules for UTC week 2026-W45 and later weeks. The corresponding app controls, result display and notifications are being rolled out during the beta and may not yet be available in every app or service version. Previously evaluated weeks are not automatically recalculated.
Photo of the Week is organised by SilkIdea s.r.o., company number 07990073, registered office Kosova 1242/1c, Suchdol, 165 00 Praha 6, Czech Republic, registered at the Municipal Court in Prague, Section C, File 311152. Questions, reports and requests for human review: crewnexo@silkidea.com.
Participation is voluntary and open to eligible CrewNexo crew-account users aged 18 or over where the feature is available and participation is lawful. Invited non-crew/family accounts cannot enter or vote. A store content rating does not remove this adult eligibility requirement. Entries compete together across participating airlines; an airline logo/profile association does not mean that airline approves an entry.
Entry and voting are free. No purchase, Plus subscription or trial is required, and Plus does not improve entry limits, voting weight or selection. The award is recognition in the app and display in its winners gallery. There is no cash, material prize, employment benefit, flight assignment, airline priority or entitlement to compensation for winning. There is no cash alternative.
Apple and Google are not sponsors and are not involved in organising, administering or judging this feature. No airline sponsors or administers it. The organiser is SilkIdea alone.
Each period is an ISO calendar week in UTC, from Monday 00:00 inclusive until the following Monday 00:00 exclusive. The server's receipt time determines the week, not the photo's capture time or the time you started an offline upload. An upload completed after the boundary enters the week in which the service receives its entry.
You may have up to 10 entries per crew account per week. Removing an entry frees its place under the current entry-count limit; this is not permission to spam or manipulate the feature. Each entry has one supported photo, with an optional caption of up to 140 characters and an optional station. Upload/preparation limits shown by the app apply; public images use a separate service from chat attachments. You may remove your own entry, including a winning entry, through the available controls or ask support for help. A removed entry does not keep its accumulated votes as a new entry.
You must hold the rights needed to submit and display the photo, caption and other content. Obtain any permissions required for identifiable people, private property or protected material and respect employer, airport, security and confidentiality restrictions. Do not submit passport details, General Declarations, identifiable colleague rosters or unnecessary sensitive personal information. Do not take or upload photographs in a way that interferes with safe duties, required rest or the law.
Each eligible crew account can have up to 3 votes per week, on different entries. You cannot vote for your own entry or give more than one vote to the same entry. You can remove and reassign a vote while the week is open. Plus does not add votes. Do not use duplicate accounts, automation, coercion or other manipulation.
Entries are shuffled for each viewer and week. Live vote totals are not shown, including to an entry's author. Personal blocking and moderation can affect what a viewer can see; a viewer's feed is not necessarily the complete set of entries considered at evaluation.
A closed week is evaluated by the scheduled service after the boundary, when that evaluation successfully runs. Selection considers eligible entries that have not been removed or hidden at evaluation. There is no minimum of three entries or two different authors. The following rules apply:
Earlier submission does not break a tie. The number of authors does not otherwise change this selection rule; more than one winning entry can belong to the same author. Entries that are hidden or removed are not candidates, even if they previously received votes.
We do not promise an exact notification or evaluation time. After evaluation, individual vote records are deleted. The result/gallery is not a permanent ballot audit or a promise of a later full recount. Please report a suspected error promptly; we will consider available information and explain a correction or restriction where appropriate. No user or automated result is exempt from mandatory legal rights.
Winning authors can receive a personal result notification. Supported apps can also show the winning photo or photos, week and displayed author information in a result banner and the winners gallery; a tie can produce several gallery items for the same week. Dismissing a banner changes your own display, not the result or the author's entry. We do not promise that every app version displays multiple winners in the same way.
New-photo notifications: the service can send eligible crew a summary of new entries in the current week at most once per UTC day, normally after 18:00 UTC when the scheduled service runs. It sends no summary when there are no qualifying new entries by other authors; it does not send a separate push for every upload. A summary count can include entries hidden from your own feed by personal blocking; it is not necessarily the number of photos you can view. The notification contains a count, an invitation to vote and a week reference, rather than the submitted photos or their authors' names. Delivery depends on notification settings, permissions, connectivity and provider availability. The new-photo category is separate from the notification that your own photo won; the summary is enabled by default where available and can be switched off through supported notification controls. Device settings can disable CrewNexo notifications. This is separate from optional usage analytics.
Your entry can be seen by eligible logged-in crew across participating airlines, together with its caption/station and your displayed author profile, including enabled badges or Horizon level. This is broader than sharing with friends and is not a private chat. The current feature does not grant us permission to reuse your photo in external advertising or publish it on the unrestricted web.
Supported gallery viewers can let recipients download, save or share a displayed photo through their device's sharing tools. Other recipients can also take screenshots or keep copies. Submitting an entry therefore does not give you technical control over every later copy. These controls do not grant recipients ownership, a general licence to repost the photo publicly or permission to disregard the author's rights or the privacy of depicted people. Do not reuse someone else's photo beyond what the rights holder or applicable law allows. SilkIdea's own permission remains limited as follows.
You keep your rights in the content. You give SilkIdea a non-exclusive permission, limited to operating this feature, to host, technically prepare, display and moderate your submission for this audience and through necessary technical providers. For a winner this includes display in the in-app winners gallery while the entry remains. There is no ownership transfer, unrelated marketing licence or irrevocable right to retain a deleted winner.
Votes are removed after successful evaluation. Non-winning entries and their images are scheduled for removal after 30 days from the end of the relevant week, at the next successful cleanup. Winning entries have no fixed automatic expiry and remain until you remove the entry/account, the service removes them on a legitimate basis, or the feature/service ends. Removing a winner can leave a weekly “photo removed” result without the removed entry/author link; other joint winners remain, and no runner-up automatically replaces the removed entry. A supported app may cache the latest winners' profile and entry information and the dismissed-banner state on the device for offline display. An old local view or saved copy can outlast a server-side change; removing an entry cannot remotely recall these copies.
Public images are held in service-accessible object storage and delivered by expiring links; they are not encrypted by the chat-media mechanism. Object removal is queued independently of the account/content record, and a failed removal is retried until completion. This can finish later than database deletion; contact us if a removed image is still available. Recipient copies, screenshots, temporary device caches and restricted backups have separate treatment. These limits do not remove your privacy or erasure rights. See the Privacy Policy and Delete your account for details, including reports and backups. The six-month chat-retention period does not apply to the winners gallery.
The content rules in the CrewNexo EULA apply. Captions can undergo word and automated text-model checks, including delayed checks; this is not a guarantee that images or every rights issue are checked before display. An entry may be rejected or hidden after a check or after reports from three different users, pending review. Hiding is not erasure or a final finding of wrongdoing.
Use the in-app report controls or email the organiser with the entry/week reference and a specific reason. Do not make knowingly false reports. We may restrict or remove an entry, disqualify manipulated votes or correct a result where reasonably necessary to enforce these rules, protect people or comply with law. We will give reasons and an opportunity to challenge a measure where required; you can request human review by email. Correction is subject to available records, as individual ballots are not retained after evaluation.
The publication notice identifies the first UTC week governed by this version. Previously evaluated results are not automatically recalculated under the new selection criteria, and merely publishing this text does not reopen voting or restore deleted ballots. Any exceptional beta-period correction must be identified and explained to affected participants; beta status alone does not cancel these protections.
We may change future weekly periods or discontinue the feature for a legitimate technical, safety, legal or service reason, with appropriate notice. We will not silently apply new selection criteria to an already open or completed week. If an exceptional event requires interruption or correction, we will explain the reason and fair treatment of affected entries, subject to applicable law.
The EULA's provider, official-airline-source priority, lawful liability limitations, governing-law and consumer-rights provisions apply alongside these specific rules. These rules do not waive non-excludable liability, consumer remedies, privacy rights or a right to complain to a competent authority or court. Publishing a new version alone does not retrospectively bind earlier participation to different rules.
